A Special Thankyou To The Social Lites WI Choir & The Bootleg Line Dancers

Earlier this year, we were contacted by Julie Pennington from the Social Lites WI Choir.
Julie mentioned that many choir members were already familiar with the work we do in the community, with some having used our toy loaning service when their children were younger. We were delighted to learn that they had kindly chosen us as their charity for their Family and Friends Celebration Concert!

To add even more excitement to the event, Maureen, one of the choir members, invited her Bootleg Line Dancing group to take part too.

The concert took place on June 27th at Flixton Cricket Club, and what a night it was!
The choir performed a fantastic selection of songs, sung beautifully, while Lyn, Jackie, Sue, and Bee wowed everyone with a series of line dances. The audience was also encouraged to join in — and once we got started, there was no stopping us! It truly was a joyful, feel-good evening filled with music, dancing, laughter, and community spirit.

As if that wasn’t enough, the Social Lites WI Choir generously donated the proceeds from ticket sales and a raffle — and even added an extra £50 from a previous concert. In total, they raised a magnificent £707.00 for us! We can’t thank them enough.

About the Social Lites WI Choir:
Formed over 11 years ago, the Sociallites WI Choir now has around 40 members and meets every Tuesday evening. They’ve been led by the talented Dr. David Cane for the past 6 years. The choir regularly performs in care homes and other venues both locally and further afield, spreading joy wherever they go.
They rehearse every Tuesday from 7:15pm to 8:45pm at Flixton Girls School — and new lady members are always warmly welcomed!

About the Bootlegged Dancers:
The group was founded by four enthusiastic line dancers — Lyn, Jackie, Sue, and Bee — who originally met at the Fafa Dance Studio at the Curzon. After the Curzon closed, they formed their own group and now meet on Wednesday mornings from 10:00am to 12:00pm at The Roebuck. Due to the group's popularity, they’ve also added a Tuesday evening session at Shawe Hall Community Centre from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
If you fancy a dance and some fun, you’re more than welcome to join them!

Once again, a huge thank you to everyone involved for raising £707.00 and giving us an evening to remember. Your support is very much appreciated
