Thank You to Janet’s family.

‘The Toy House was a source of joy for mum. It was a chance for her to shine to recapture her natural ability to engage children with fun and excitement. As she became unwell our memories brought comfort and talking about the Toy House made us all smile again.’

That’s our aim at The Toy House, to make our visitors feel welcome and included in all the different sessions we run.

When Janet’s health allowed, she would attend with her daughter and great grandchildren.

In her working life Janet worked at Trafford General children’s ward supporting the children and their families by providing play activities. At Christmas she would also organise a party for patients who were regulars on the ward.

At the Toy House Janet loved to see the children playing and having fun but what she liked best was our sing song at the end of our Stay and Play session.  Each child or adult chooses a nursery rhyme or song they would like the group to sing. Janet always chose “Two little Dicky Birds” and she even brought her own little birds and led the singing for her favourite song.

Due to poor health, Janet has been unable to attend recently and sadly passed away in the summer.

At Janet’s funeral the family requested no flowers but instead asked for donations for the Toy House. The donations raised £280.

We were incredibly grateful to receive this donation and even more pleased when Janet’s granddaughter Abi Bellass plus friends and family decided to do the Three Peaks Challenge in memory of Janet. They did the challenge on 6th September and completed it in 11 hours and 19 minutes. Abi set up a Just Giving page to raise funds for the place her nanna loved to visit, the Toy House. The Just Giving page raised £875.  In total the Toy House received £1.155.00.

Janet’s granddaughter Abi said

We’re doing this in loving memory of our Nanna Janet, who meant the absolute world to us all. She was kind, caring and incredibly strong. This is our way of continuing her kindness and making a difference to those who need it most. Every donation means so much, thank you for helping us honour her memory in such a positive way❤️

A huge Thank You to Janet’s family and friends from everyone at the Toy House.
